I am a 50 y.o. living with NMO for the last 13 years. Was not getting good treatment in California so have been researching for the last 3 years and am finally getting into Johns Hopkins in September and into Vanderbilt University Medical Center in August. When I told my doctor in California, he just yelled at me for it. I moved to Glasgow, KY in January so that I can get the care that I need from these two facilities. Problem is, I have been sleeping in my car with my dog since January. I am approved for an apartment and can come up with deposit but need help coming up with $471 for rent. Doe anyone know of any agency or anyone who can help? I KNOW that I made the right move so that I can get into these two facilities but it has been so hard getting settled and I am so sick. Not just from my NMO, but from sleeping in a hot and humid car. I need to get settled somewhere so that I can start going to these doctors and getting some help. As it is, I have to start all over again on all of my medications, as my doctors in California were only able to give me 3 months worth when I moved. It has taken all of this time to get my appointments in JH and Vanderbilt. I just need a break and don’t know where to turn to. I don’t think I’m suicidal, but my symptoms are so bad without my medications and sleeping in the car with my dog isn’t helping. Does anybody know anybody or agency that could help out just this one time? I desperately need to get into the apartment. I don’t care about sleeping on the floor or anything, I just need to get out of the hot and humid car which makes my condition worse. Sorry for going on. I’m just so tired. Thank you to anyone who took their time to read this. Thank you! Lisa Burke 310-293-5752 PS, I also feel bad for my poor dog. How do they do it in this hot and humid weather? Thanks!
